hand painted kitchen and island in Anglesey
Mark Roberts latest project was a hand painted kitchen and island in Anglesey.
The brief for the hand painted kitchen and island in Anglesey
Most of Mark’s kitchen painting projects in North Wales are along the coast: Caernarfon, Llandudno, Pwllheli, Rhyl. This particular enquiry took him over the Menai Bridge onto Ynys Môn aka the island of Anglesey.
It was a very well appointed kitchen with some interesting touches, but it was time for an uplift. To replace this kitchen would obviously cost a tidy sum plus major disruption, just to achieve a lighter shade. Therefore the clients contacted Mark to ask for his advice on a more cost-effective alternative.
Mark and his clients agreed that the best way ahead was to lighten up the wall and base units, but keep the original natural look of the island and dresser.
The kitchen cabinets
The paint colour for the cabinets was Benjamin Moore’s “Night Mist”. Mark specified Scuff-X water based enamel, in a satin sheen. (Everything you need to know about Scuff-X!)
The island and dresser
Did you notice the leather handles? A classy way to pull out a serving tray!
It is the little things, the attention to detail, that lift the ordinary to the excellent!
To do justice to the dresser and island, Mark cleaned the surfaces, and touched up any damage marks with Liberon’s Palette water based wood dye. He then sealed the timber with 2 coats of clear Tikurilla Kiva 30 furniture lacquer. It is also a satin sheen.
The clients’ comment
“The kitchen looks brilliant. The finish is impeccable. Thank you”.
Another job well done.
