good caulk for exterior woodwork
I have been “banging on” about Soudal acryrub decorators caulk for quite a while now. I think it is marvellous for a few reasons. It is primarily for filling gaps over 5mm wide (big) and flexes up to 9%.
And this is the front which I filled and painted abut a month ago with Mythic semi gloss enamel.
It isn’t budging so far. I will report back.
In 6 months it also has not failed to the best of my knowledge on narrower cracks along tops of skirtings etc. It smooths down easily, it dries ready for painting in an hour and when dried overnight you can lightly rub it over to remove little snots before painting.
I have not over-painted it with vinyl matt emulsions, (only premium acrylic emulsion and enamels) so I have not suffered from the crazy cracking syndrome everyone experiences when using vinyl based emulsion paint straight over the top of acrylic caulk.
At about £1 for a 310ml tube, for premium product that just works, it is fine by me. At the moment I buy it from Alastair at UK Sealants
Please share it on Twitter, Facebook, or print it out for reference. Thanks.
