Fireplace Refurbishment in Roscommon
Traditional Painter Adam Bermingham carried out a fireplace refurbishment in Roscommon last year, at The Cosy Bar. This is a summary of the process & equipment to bring the cast iron period fireplace back to its former glory.
When the fire had been left a day to die down and cool off, Adam vacuumed everything out and scrubbed the surround clean with citrus based Krud Kutter Original, a favourite with Traditional Painters.
He protected the areas around the hearth with Blue Painter Tape and applied a tried and tested one-coat wonder Douglas Black Satin Machinery Paint using a * 1.5 inch Wooster Alpha and a Corona Comet.
To perfect the final finish, Adam distressed the perfect machine paint 24 hours later, rubbing out areas with steel wool and a sanding pad.
As you can see, it came out really well. The full story is here.
You may remember Adam was then called in to restore bar stools that had been long neglected. Another success, and another example of his versatility.
When you are next in the Cosy Bar, pull up a seat near the fire and admire the workmanship of a very versatile painting specialist living near you in Roscommon!
