High standard of service
For most good craftsmen it is easy to produce high quality work, however, there is far more to good service than shiny paintwork.
Having made every mistake in the book in my early years in the trade, and seen others repeat them time after time, the following is an outline of the level of service you can expect from me.
Prompt appointments
I can usually come and see you and discuss your job within 4 days of our first contact phone call or email.
I will actually come to see you at the arranged time. If I am going to be late, I will call you in good time, so as not to inconvenience you. The scenario where you wait and wait with no phone call, or worse, you wait and never see me again- it’s not going to happen.
Free, no obligation quotes
Within 3 days of our meeting, you will receive an itemised, no obligation quote via email, or within a week by post. I will cover everything that needs doing, to ensure you know exactly what is involved to get the high quality finished job that you are expecting. There are no hidden extras, and no charge for quotes, or advice.
No hidden extras or nasty surprises with the bill
I give fixed price quotes. What I quote at the start is what you will pay. Very occasionally, when I prepare the quote, there is some part of the work that I cannot estimate accurately. I will mark that as a separate extra cost, and you will know before any work is started, that you are to be charged at an hourly rate plus materials. (But this is rare.)
The only other changes to the original price would be if you asked me to do extra work while I am on your job. I may ask you to sign an “Extras docket” before I do it.
Reliable from start to finish
I won’t run off to other jobs half way through. I undertake one project at a time. So, on acceptance of the quote, once I have started, I will work 36 hours a week through to completion of your job to your satisfaction. (If the decorating work is part of a larger kitchen or bathroom installation or other major construction work, then obviously I would co-ordinate my work schedule to fit around other trades.)
You get what you pay for
Prices: I am neither the cheapest nor the most expensive. I work quickly, tidily and efficiently, and I will go the extra mile to ensure a brilliant finish. I don’t do spruce-it-up budget work.
High standard of workmanship
Painting: Generally, painted woodwork is rubbed down thoroughly, painted with two full undercoats, filled, rubbed down between coats, and finished usually with 2 x eggshell / satin finish. I use low odour oil-based paint wherever possible.
Specialist painting work: I charge a premium rate for painting kitchen units and furniture. I believe I am good value, as this type of work is a surprisingly big step up from standard painting and decorating jobs. Not many tradesmen can complete work of this type to a high specification – in good time. I can.
That is my blue print for service and peace of mind for all concerned.
